Welcome to Old Season Farm!
We’re establishing a fruit, nut, and produce farm in beautiful southern Ashe County, North Carolina. Right now we’re experimenting with apples, hazelnuts, black walnuts, currants, juneberries, elderberries, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, and paw-paws, with the goal of expanding on what works best for us, our customers, and our land. We’re also raising garden vegetables and eggs, and these will likely be the first thing you’ll see from us, at least until our trees get established.
How we grow

In a nutshell: we want to leave the land better off than when we found it. We grow food without industrial pesticides or fertilizers, and we try to do it with a minimum of machinery. We also like to go easy on the plastics and the off-farm inputs. Part of it has to do with being committed to the principles of sustainability, but it also comes from thinking about the quality of our food, costs, self-sufficiency, and common sense.
